A year-end wrap-up three weeks into January? Yeah. They’re on a different PLANET. It’s a cosmic miracle that our calendars are as closely aligned as they are. Or, like, we’re just getting the transmission now. Or whatever. Science. Leave me alone! Anyway, HERE.
Mystery boxes? Ooh, how intriguing! I wonder what’s inside! Should… should we buy like SO many of them? Will we ever find out what’s in them and why they’re SO popular? (Yes. Next week.)
I did a school visit a few days ago and woke up with a cold. No biggie! I always factor the cost of a cycle of DayQuil into my fee. But I was thinking—were I to do a school visit tour in the future, I’d set it up so I have one big visit, two days off, then the bulk of the tour. That way I could catch all of the germs, fight them off, then hit the road.
But anyway, I’ve kinda semi-accidentally taken a break from book stuff. Sure, I’ve been working on the first Cassidy: Biggest Monster, Smallest Planet book, and I’m loosely/vaguely/barely working on some pitches, but mostly… I just wanna make clay stuff. It’s just been SO fulfilling. Still not sure what I want to “do” with it, but I’m also being careful to not try to turn it into a pressure-y money-y thing. I’m being really protective.
Here are some in-progress pieces from the past couple of weeks.
The piece on the left was inspired by Jana Seven. Definitely check her out. Oh. I’m looking at this photo and seeing that I need to adjust his left arm. Looks like his shoulder is dislocated. The center thingy came from the realization that surface area is a precious commodity, so maybe I should do more wall-hangy stuff? And the piece on the right was a pinch/coil pot that I made in my class. While carving the underside, it fell and plopped onto the table. I was about to squish it… then realized that it had landed in a really cool, blorpy way. So I kept it. I’d like to leave the outside raw and glaze the inside gold, but we’ll see.
See you next time, when Clove confronts Chennifer about her list. OKAY BYE.
I love all…the pottery really good…but your summary of activity impressive🤗
I hope you release Songs to Do Chores To when the book comes out
